For the second time in 17 years, Missoula will host the annual Montana Audubon Bird Festival, Friday June 3rd through Sunday the 5th.
Steve Hoffman, Executive Director of the Montana Audubon Society, has seen a steady increase in turnout every year, regardless of the location.
"The interest in birding is growing, throughout Montana and throughout the country. People really are interested in connecting with nature through birds. Once you realize how much fun it is, it's a great way to spend time outdoors."
Some activities during the festival include talks from various experts in the field, and day trips to check out birds and bats in the surrounding area.
"We also have field trips not only to look at birds, but also wildflowers and butterflies."
Hoffman says 350 people have already signed up, and past festivals have attracted as many as 425 participants.
Some destinations include Georgetown Lake and Lolo Pass.
