Bletchley Park: A Montana War Bride Looks Back

Dec 28, 2015

In this episode of Mountain West Voices, we hear from Dulcie May Klusmann, who, as a teenager, worked as a code breaker at Bletchley Park, Britain's top secret center for breaking German codes and ciphers.

She remembers meeting Winston Churchill, who praised the "Bletchley girls," telling them they were like "geese that laid the golden egg without cackling." Dulcie came to Montana as a "war bride" in 1945, and now lives in a senior residence in Bozeman.

(Broadcast: "Mountain West Voices,"  12/28/15 and 5/23/16, Monday afternoons, 4:53 p.m., or via podcast.)
