Michael Marsolek talks with David Feffer, Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation Chairman and Founding Director, and 16-year-old guitar prodigy Solomon Hicks about this year's festival.

The Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation’s Workshop and Festival runs from August 24 – August 31 , 2014. The week long event includes 6 days of workshops, lessons, jamming and nightly concerts in a family friendly atmosphere with 4-star accommodations, and access to the hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, and art gallery tour activities unique to the Flathead Valley and the Crown of the Continent region.

Solomon Hicks is a 16 year old guitarist/singer prodigy musician. He excels in Jazz, Blues, Classical, Gospel, R&B, Funk and classic Rock. He has been playing for 10 years. In Harlem he is called: 'KING SOLOMON' , 'lil B.B.' and 'EAST Montgomery'.

Solomon has been in several newspapers, magazines, ABC, and many public access TV shows. He played at the 2009 US OPEN, and at Madison Square Garden during a New York Knicks game in 2010. He has also played for Gov. David Patterson, Dr. Billy Taylor, & Congressman Charlie Rangel. Live on 'WLIB' radio 'WVOX' Mt. Vernon, 'WHCR' 90.3 He is a Harlem Arts Alliance member & HCC. WBGO is playing his CD.

Solomon is the lead guitarist, with the 'ALL STARS BAND' since age 13. He performs several times a week at the COTTON CLUB. He has a CD with the Cotton Club All Stars Band, featuring Solomon, at 14 years old.

He was the recipient of the 2008 Jazz Excellence award/scholarship from the Friendly 50 Club org. The AUDELCO 'Rising Star' Honoree for the 2009-10 'VIV award for Jazz/music performance.

Chérie Newman is a former arts and humanities producer and on-air host for Montana Public Radio, and a freelance writer. She founded and previously hosted a weekly literary program, The Write Question, which continues to air on several public radio stations; it is also available online at PRX.org and MTPR.org.
