HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Health officials say chicken salad from Costco may be linked to several recent cases of food poisoning in four states, including Montana.
The state Department of Public Health and Human Services says six people from Yellowstone, Gallatin and Lewis and Clark counties have been sickened by E. coli since late October. Two cases required hospitalization. Other cases have been reported in Washington, Colorado and Utah.
Investigators have identified Costco chicken salad as a risk factor. Health officials say customers who still have Costco chicken salad with sell-by dates between Oct. 18 and Nov. 23 should not eat it due to risk of illness. Costco has removed the product from its shelves.
Anyone who ate Costco chicken salad and became ill with diarrhea and abdominal cramps is asked to consult with their health care provider.
