A house in Milltown erupted in flames around 4:30 this morning. Both the East Missoula Fire crew and the Missoula Rural Fire responded immediately. Initial reports of the fire say residents reported smoke coming from a wall inside the house.

When crews arrived, flames and smoke could be seen from the outside and were threatening the neighboring house. By 7:00 a.m., the fire was contained.

Battalion Chief Blaine Cowan with Missoula Rural Fire determined the home is unsalvageable.

“The house would be considered a complete loss at this point. Looking at the damage that was done, it doesn’t appear that they can just remodel or rebuild it. They’ll probably have to tear it all down.”

No one was injured.
