Republican lawmakers are taking steps to kill a proposed increase in Montana's tobacco tax.

Montana lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow elementary school districts with at least 1,000 students the option of voting to create a high school district.

Representative Jim Keane continues to steer his infrastructure bills to the Senate Finance and Claims Committee.

The state House today revived an infrastructure bill that previously failed, only to reject it again by a wider margin. Montana's unemployment rate is among the lowest in the nation, but joblessness remains a pervasive problem across the state's tribal communities.

Water managers are drawing down Bighorn Reservoir in north-central Wyoming to make room for spring runoff after heavy snow fell in the Shoshone River drainage this winter.
