On tonight's evening newscast: Montana's Public Service Commission plans to sue CenturyLink for failing to promptly restore out-of-service landlines.

A Kalispell man accused of making online threats to schools and religious leaders before stocking up on guns at his home has been released from jail.

Broadwater County authorities have ordered homes evacuated east of Townsend and closed a portion of U.S. Highway 12 ahead of a quickly spreading wildfire.

The jailed founder of Montana's Yellowstone Club faces three months more in custody barring a higher court's intervention after a judge scheduled an October trial in his civil contempt case.

The Flathead Beacon reports this afternoon the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park is closed due to a wildfire.  The closure runs from Logan Pass to St. Mary.

Authorities briefly evacuated homes west of Helena ahead of a wildfire that was apparently started by lightning.

Montana has moved up a notch in the rankings of the overall well-being of its children, but it still ranks in the bottom half of states nationally, according to a report released Tuesday.

Montana's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.9 percent in June.
