Classes are scheduled to resume tomorrow (Tue 9/19) in the Flathead Valley after cyber-threats closed 30 public and private schools, affecting more more than 15,000 students. The first threat was sent late last Wednesday, prompting officials to shut down schools on Thursday, Friday and Monday.  

The University of Montana has narrowed its search for president down to four candidates. The finalists are on campus this week and Monday, visiting with faculty and students and sharing their vision for the institution, which is facing enrollment challenges.

A public hearing on a proposed water bottling plant in the Flathead Valley starts tomorrow morning (Tue 9/19) in Kalispell. Montana’s Department of Natural Resources is holding the hearing to determine whether to grant a water right to the Montana Artesian Water Company.

Republican congressman Greg Gianforte gave a keynote address to the Montana Association of Counties today. Yellowstone Public Radio’s Nate Hegyi reports.

Tribal leaders from Canada and the American West gathered in Yellowstone National Park over the weekend. (Sat. 9/16) They were there to protest places named after early explorers who advocated for the mass killing of Native Americans. 

The Bitterroot National Forest is seeking input on a plan that aims to reduce fire danger west of Hamilton.
