A trial is underway in the case of a Florence pain doctor charged in the overdose deaths of two patients.

A company that wants to build a large sea terminal in Washington to export coal to Asia is challenging that state's decision to deny a key permit.

Steve Daines and three other Republican senators released draft legislation they say would reverse the so-called Cottonwood Decision. 

The National Park Service is proposing a steep increase to entrance fees at 17 of its most popular sites next year. Those include Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, where visitors would be charged $70 per vehicle, up from the current fee of $30.

A former chief financial officer at the Rocky Boy Health Board Clinic in Box Elder has pleaded guilty to circumventing the approval process in taking out nearly $112,000 in loans from the health board's loan program. 

At least two retired judges have agreed to oversee Montana court cases without being paid. Court administrator Beth McLaughlin says legislative cuts to the court's operating budget led to the pay elimination for retired judges, beginning July 1.

A 38-year-old California woman has pleaded guilty to making and passing $100 bills in Montana, defrauding businesses throughout the state of about $45,000.
