The first female ambassador to South Korea is retiring from the U.S. Foreign Service after 35 years.
Part-time Montana resident Kathleen Stephens has served missions in Europe and Asia, and received numerous awards, including the 2009 Presidential Meritorious Service award. Stephens served as ambassador to South Korea from 2008 to 2011, returning to a country she first visited as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 1970s.
