Part of Highway 200 reopened this afternoon clearing the route between Missoula and Great Falls. The section of the road near Rogers Pass was closed for several days following flooding in the area on Tuesday.
Brent Colbert, a captain with the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s office, says the highway reopened a little after 3 o'clock Friday afternoon.
Earlier this week all highways leading in and out of Augusta were closed because of the flooding.
“It’s still running pretty good in certain areas, but as far as in town it’s receded quite a bit. They’re probably in the very beginning stages of maybe cleaning some stuff up.”
Lewis and Clark County Emergency Management says the Salvation Army and Red Cross were delivering free food and cleanup kits to Augusta, available at the Augusta Service Station.
According to the Montana Department of Transportation a section of Highway 21 between Augusta and Simms remains closed because of a washed out bridge.
