House Minority Leader Jenny Eck Won't Seek Re-Election

Rep. Jenny Eck (D) HD79.
Montana Legislature

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — House Minority Leader Jenny Eck of Helena says she won't be seeking re-election.

Eck announced Tuesday she would finish her term through the end of the year, but is taking a job as executive director of The Friendship Center in Helena. The center provides shelter and other services for people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence or stalking.

Eck, a Democrat, had been running unopposed. The Lewis and Clark County Democratic Central Committee will choose a candidate to replace her on the general election ballot.

Eck says there are few organizations for which she would consider leaving the Legislature, but says she's passionate about the mission of The Friendship Center.
