A Kalispell Republican club says it wants to hear from an organization that some on the left say engages in hate speech. The Glacier Country Pachyderm Club is a Republican education group. Recently, it has invited speakers like local legislators, law enforcement officials and real estate agents to address its weekly meetings.

Todd Bernhardt is president of the club.

“There's no political agenda that we have, other than, introducing people to another group of people who are working hard to achieve a goal,” says Bernhardt.

Tomorrow Berhardt’s club has invited the local chapter of ACT for America.

Local and national groups say ACT For America engages in hate speech against Muslims, but Bernhardt says Pachyderm members are capable of making up their own minds about ACT’s ideology.

“I think there's a perception out there, at least from people on the right, that hate nowadays is a left-leaning term, that far, alt-left groups use to define people who don't believe in their ideology," Bernhardt says. "I don’t think hate means what it used to."

The Glacier Country Pachyderm clubs meets Fridays at noon at Sykes Diner in Kalispell.
