A proposal to claw back funds for public media has already passed the House of Representatives. Montana Public Radio and stations across the country receive critical federal funds to strengthen our work. The Senate could vote on the proposal in the coming days. Marc Cohn's Blue-Eyed Soul

Jaime Vedres

In 1991, Marc Cohn took home the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. In the two decades since, he has recorded a series of self-titled albums full of piano-based gospel-blues folk songs, and has performed around the world. In 2005, a harrowing near-death experience helped sharpen Cohn’s musical focus. This edition of "Musicians' Spotlight" took home the Montana Broadcasters' Association 2015  E.B. Craney Broadcasting Award in the Non-Commercial Radio Program of the Year category. Congratulations to John Floridis!

(Broadcast: "Musicians' Spotlight," 2/26/15 and 6/11/15. Listen on Thursday evenings at 7:30, or via podcast.

John Floridis, the host and producer of Musician's Spotlight, has been with Montana Public Radio since 1997. He has interviewed over 200 musicians during that time. He is also an independent recording and performing artist in his own right and a former registered music therapist.
