Montana Composers and Performers Gather at the Big Sky Alive Festival

6/22/14: This week on "Front Row Center:" Michael Marsolek talks with composer Craig Thomas Naylor, director of the inaugural Big Sky Alive Festival.

Spotlighting new, accessible classical music composed and performed by Montanans, Big Sky Alive features open rehearsals, master classes and performances. Events take place June 22-23, primarily at Helena's Myrna Loy Center. Works by Naylor, Lynn Petersen, Charles Nichols, Philip Aaberg and Matthew Marsolek will be performed by the Cascade String Quartet, trombonist Alan Gemberling, and the composers.

Beth Anne Austein has been spinning tunes on the air (The Folk Show, Dancing With Tradition, Freeforms), as well as recording, editing and mixing audio for Montana Public Radio and Montana PBS, since the Clinton Administration.
