The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office identified the snowmobiler who was killed in an avalanche near Whitefish on Saturday as 33 year-old Geoffrey Richard Caldbeck from Kila.

Ten people have died in avalanches across the West in the last 10 days, making this month the deadliest January for slides in nearly 20 years.
