MTPR Morning Newscast
Josh Burnham

On this edition of Montana Morning Newscast, Montana’s Gov. Steve Bullock is teaming up with an unlikely ally to push for campaign-finance reform while the Montana State Senate approved an across-the-board cut in state income taxes.

A Democratic lawmaker has called for Montana to support a convention that would amend the U.S. Constitution and the Montana Senate yesterday passed a bill on a 26-23 vote that would make it legal for students to carry guns on college campuses.

A Gallatin County judge has vacated the upcoming trial of a 29 year old Bozeman man charged with trying to rape an acquaintance and escaping from police. A Great Falls lawmaker wants the state legislature to put a measure on the ballot that would create a permanent trust fund to benefit future generations.

The author of Montana’s coal tax and the constitutional coal tax trust fund wholeheartedly supports creation of a constitutionally protected oil and gas tax trust fund. A state judge has ruled against an environmental group in a lawsuit over a permit governing the expansion of the Golden Sunlight Mine near Whitehall.
