An exhibit featuring over 100 prints from some of the most notable artists of the modern era opened this month at the Missoula Art Museum. Works by such luminaries as Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Barbara Kruger are featured - and are part of the private collection of Oregon real estate developer and philanthropist Jordan Schnitzer.
Schnitzer is in Missoula this week, and he gave News Director Sally Mauk a tour of the exhibit. Schnitzer's mother Arlene opened the first major art gallery in Portland in the 1960's, and he credits her for instilling his lifelong love of art. Schnitzer began by collecting the works of Pacific Northwest artists, who he says remain his true love.
The contemporary prints exhibit from the Schnitzer collection is on display at the Missoula Art Museum through June 1st.
