The first TV advertisement of Democratic Governor Steve Bullock’s reelection campaign airs Friday.
The 30 second spot shows Bullock’s family living and growing up in Montana.
“My wife Lisa and I grew up here. Send our kids to public schools here. Hike the same trials, fish the same streams, as when we were kids, " Bullock says in the opening line.
The advertisement subtly continues the work of the Democratic party to cast Bullock as the relatable homegrown guy in the gubernatorial race while painting his opponent, Republican Greg Gianforte, as an outsider.

Gianforte has run his own advertisement of family photos telling the story of when he and his wife moved to Montana over twenty years ago.
Both candidates cast themselves as defenders of Montana values and the other as a threat.
Bullock is buying at least $100,000 worth of airtime to run his first ad for 10 days statewide.
Gianforte has already run a half dozen TV advertisements over the last six months.
The candidates have already debated once, and are expected to do so at least twice more before the election. The next scheduled debate is set for September 19 at Montana State University in Billings.
