Thankful for the state of Jazz

Jazz is something I am so thankful for, something I cherish, something meditative and peaceful, even when it swings hard. The State of Modern Jazz is not just good, it's great. Tonight we'll hear a host of newer jazz, mostly from the last 5 years. Artists include Jimmy Cobb, Jim Rotondi, David Chesky, Ron Carter, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride and more. 8:30 tonight on "What I Like About Jazz."

John Arvish is a public school teacher, as well as host and producer of What I Like About Jazz, Muse's Jukebox, and Blues on the Move. He lives with his wife Carrie, their dog Sunny and cat Pokey and a smorgasbord of good music, theater, art and food.
